COMRADE
Growing up my priority objective set by my parents and myself was to make it to campus. All through lower schools the only motivation to pass exams was the imagination of life in campus. The imagination implanted in our brains by our teachers .’it’s a freestyle lifestyle up there ,no rules’ constant reminders .’you’ll get all the guys or ladies’,funny enough look at us ,single ,rejected by love multiple times hadi it has become a normal.
Lets rewind it ,how about the meals .A comrade taking three meals a day is considered an illuminati ,most skip either 1 or 2 meals a day .if it wasn’t for ‘fuliza’ and ‘kwa madhe’ kibandaski where you can just spend 30 bob [chapo tatu chomaa] ,many comrades would perish of hunger. Ironically the meal that growing up we considered high class ,in the life of a comrade ,it’s the lowest ,am talking about chapo.Back then in our homes you had to wait for Christmas for this meal heh.
How about ‘kusota’ ,its like a disease . An airborne disease ,the moment you step into campus all of a sudden you become broke.Gone are the days when ksh 500 was valuable. As a comrade a thousand bob equals to 1 bob in our childhood times .Cash is never enough for a comrade ,its as if our currency has surpassed the Zimbabwe currency in terms of being valueless .Your financers all of a sudden get enlightened that you are a grown up.For crying out loud ,am only 20 . ‘sa miaka 20 ni kitu ya kunyima comrade pesa’ surely.
Should I talk about love ?hell yeah ,those fortunate enough to come across the little thing called ‘love’ definitely have a story to tell.Coming in to get a degree/diploma and coming out with a ‘character development’ certificate. For the boychild ,back in school were told how ladies will be after them only to come in and get shocked.Somehow the ladies are after ‘wababa’ ,oooh boychild in whose hands are you safe ,in whose hands. With no money ,you don’t get even ‘sympathy love’ .For the girlchild comrade ,money is the SI unit of love ,but can you blame them ?Dryspell in the boychild comrade community is severe than Turkana.well, thats a story for another day .
That’s the life of a comrade in a nutshell.
Great work. Tunastruggle huku njeπ€¦π
